This playful, hand engraved sterling silver Castro Smith pendant necklace has a solid feel and nature-inspired design. The sterling silver circular pendant has been meticulously engraved on both sides and set with two sparkling diamonds. On the front of the pendant is a carved dragon fish and on the back is a circle of carved leaves. Each engraved element has been plated with 18K yellow gold and the pendant hangs from the center of the sterling silver chain.

Castro Smith Jewelry

EAST LONDON - Castro started training as a painter and printmaker and his work is inspired by history, myths and biology. He studied with one of the largest engraving firms RH Wilkins to learn his technique, 'seal engraving', which goes back to ancient times. A seal is always engraved in reverse and is much deeper than traditional two-dimensional hand engraving with a third or fourth dimension added which is deeper and finer and takes much more time to achieve. He uses his knowledge of engraving to create contemporary pieces and to experiment with European and Japanese engraving techniques.
